EFI Conversion with Megasquirt - 2
Less Visible, but no less important

Fuel supply – a new high-pressure
pump, filter and line must be installed
Sensors – the ECU
needs to know what’s happening. As well
as the coolant temperature sensor and throttle position sensor shown below, an
air temperature sensor and oxygen sensor are needed.
The Oxygen
sensor mounted in the collector. It is
placed to catch the gases from all cylinders and as near as possible to the
engine. They need to be hot to work
properly. This one is a heated 4-wire
one pinched from an old Mondeo.
The oxygen
sensor in situ.
The water temperature sensor. Also shown are the makings of the adaptor –
a cut down oil pressure RV housing (which fits the thermostat housing) about to
be welded to an M10 nut (which fits the sensor).
The sensor came from an Astra complete with the electrical plug
for splicing into the loom.
